This study examined teachability characteristics and postgraduate students’ academic performance in Federal University of Uyo. Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. In order to achieve the purpose of this study three purposes, three research questions were raising and three null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The sub-variables of the study which were humanity, openness and hunger for knowledge were reviewed, the sample size consisted of 320 respondents representing the population of 1600 drawn using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured closed ended questionnaire entitled, Teachability Characteristics Questionnaire (TCQ) and Postgraduate Students’ Academic Performance Questionnaire (PSAPQ). The reliability of the instrument was established by using the data from trial testing procedure which yielded .76, which showed that the instruments were reliable to be used in the study. Research questions and hypotheses were answered using Descriptive statistics and Regression analysis respectively at .05 level of significant. The findings of the study revealed that reachability characteristics such as humility, openness, and hunger for knowledge relate significantly to postgraduate students’ academic performance. Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended that Good orientation should be organized for postgraduate students, so that they can fully be aware of the demands and attitude expected of them at the course of undergoing postgraduate programmed. This will give postgraduate students sense of understanding of the nature and benefit of the programmed to them and for the society they represent.
